Itinerary

Commence your journey from Nairobi to Nanyuki, where a delightful lunch awaits. As you travel, cross the equator on your way to the Sirimon Park gate (2660m), the starting point for the adventure that lies ahead.

From the gate, we trek up through magnificent Montane forest, bamboo and giant heather zone before reaching the high altitude moorland and our first hut (Old Moses camp) for dinner and overnight.

This is a gentle trek that takes 3 – 4 hrs gaining an elevation of 680m.

Start an early morning expedition from Old Moses to Shipton camp at 4200m. Traverse the Ontulili river and ascend the breathtaking Mackinders Valley via the Liki North Ridge. Enjoy a picnic lunch along the way, reaching Shipton camp after a 7-hour journey.

Overnight:
This camp is a surreal setting below the towering peaks and glacier.

Resident population is of Rock hyrax and sun birds.

Dinner and overnight at the camp.

For better acclimatization you can take a rest day at the Shipton camp.

Short walks / day hikes are possible on the summit climb to Oblong and Hausberg tarns gaining an elevation of 370m before returning to the camp for lunch

Afternoon is at leisure. N.B: Climbing high and sleeping low is excellent for acclimatization but you can do that almost as well toughing in the sun watching the eagles!

Journey from Shipton Camp to Mackinders Camp at 4,300m begins with the trail leading to Kami Camp beneath the north face of Batian. Proceeding west-southwest, the path ascends through switchbacks in the pristine snow, culminating at Hausberg Col at 4590m. Descend into the upper Hausberg valley and take a break at the oblong and Hausberg tarns. Ascend to the crest of a ridge known as Arthur’s Seat, where the trail winds along a captivating series of rock ledges.

Overnight:
We will descend to Mackinder’s camp for the night.

Afternoon is at leisure. N.B: Climbing high and sleeping low is excellent for acclimatization but you can do that almost as well toughing in the sun watching the eagles!

Embark on an early 2:30 am start from Mackinders Camp for a sunrise attempt to reach Point Lenana at 4,985m. The ascent takes approximately 4 hours, offering an exhilarating experience heightened by the visible presence of Kilimanjaro on the horizon. After reaching the summit, descend to Mintos Hut to enjoy a full breakfast.

Overnight:
After a short rest descend further to Mt Kenya bandas through the gorges valley for dinner & overnight.

You can enjoy log fires, hot showers and bed at the Bandas!
